So what is PRISM?

PRISM is the senior high ministry at The Underground Church. If your teen is in grades 8-12, we want to meet them! PRISM exists to help teens understand what it means to have a genuine and passionate relationship with God. It is our goal to challenge their way of thinking, and to help them develop into young adults that will help lead a generation. Through dynamic teachings, and in-depth small group conversations we strive to help each teen reach their God given potential, love and serve those around them, and to live a life that passionately portrays God to those around them. These teens are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is our goal to help them develop into leaders that live a life of integrity and purpose.

What we believe:

Passion

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.

Jeremiah 20:9

We live in a world where it seems that no matter where you look, you will find people that are one of two things; passionate about the wrong things, or even worse, passionate about nothing at all. We believe that having passion within our hearts will be the fuel that propels us through every one of life’s challenges, and will be the motivation that we need when times are rough. We are not talking about passion in a romantic form, but passion that burns deep within our hearts, the kind that is the blood in our veins and the very essence of our being.

Relationship

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17

The world would be a very lonely place if we did not take the time to develop relationships. We believe that it is true that we become like the people we hang out with. It is our goal to be the trend setters, the ones who set the standard, the ones that love without abandon, and the ones that others want to emulate. We seek to glorify God in our thoughts, actions and relationships, and strive to be people who conduct ourselves with purity and above reproach. We will actively develop our relationships with God, family and peers, and personally feel responsible for sharing Him with those who do not know Him.

Integrity

As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and set me before Your face forever.

Psalm 41:12

We have heard the phrase “my word is my bond” but how often does that actually happen these days? Can we ever really take someone at their word? We will strive to be people of integrity. That we are who we say we are, and that we do the right thing, regardless of how long it takes us or how difficult it may be. Being people of integrity will set us apart in a world that promotes lying and using people. We will lead by example, and truly be the people that we say that we are.

Servanthood

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:13-14

To serve another is one of life’s greatest rewards, but unfortunately the idea of serving and expecting nothing in return is lost in today’s culture. Service to God and what He has called us to do is the most important form of service. After that is service to our church, community, family and friends, and those who need it most. To serve is to give selflessly expecting nothing in return.

Ministry

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

Romans 10:14-15

Though it may be what makes us the last part of our name, we believe that without the pouring out of ministry to others, that nothing else in our name matters. To have this opportunity is the greatest of all honors, and we believe that we are God’s voice to the people around us. Lives will be eternally changed because of God in us, and the way we passionately view our relationship with Christ and His church. We strive to be people of integrity, and will consistently serve those around us by putting others before ourselves. We embrace the simple truth that ministry is happening around us, everyday and in every situation. We have been called by God for such time as this, and we are determined to be the ones who stand up and say “here am I Lord, send me.”
